Position Title: Speech Language Pathologist


POSITION SUMMARY: The Speech Language Pathologist works with speech, language
and/or hearing disorders of identified students so affected need not be handicapped in their
educational and vocational goals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Identifies communication disorders.
2. Plans and conducts therapeutic programs.
3. Provides consultative services to others as needed.
4. Develops and maintains data recording and evaluation systems.
5. Plans and conducts parent conferences.
6. Coordinates therapy with classroom and home activities.
7. Develops therapeutic processes that will effect needed change.
8. Evaluates outcome of process and determines further needs.
9. Participates in Multidisciplinary Assessment Teams.
10. Performs appropriate tasks as designated by the Director of Student Services.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. M.A. or M.S. Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
2. Valid Washington State ESA certification as Speech Language
Pathologist/Audiologist.
3. Successful experience as a Speech Language Pathologist preferred.
4. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with K-12 students, staff, and multicultural
community.
5. Possess general knowledge and varied experience.
6. Demonstrated individual personal achievements(s).
7. Demonstrated interest in and evidence of continued personal and professional
growth.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is a sedentary position with light work that involves sitting a portion of the time, but
does require walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate
perception of sound, near and far vision, depth perception; handling and working with
educational and psychological materials; and providing highly technical oral and written
information and reports.

The Speech Language Pathologist works under the direction of the Director of Student
Services and/or the Building Administrator. The Speech Language Pathologist maintains
continuous contact with various staff members to insure close coordination and
communication necessary for successfully accomplishing the objectives of the speech and
hearing program within the total educational process. They also maintain contact with
parents, parent-teacher associations, professional associations and other community
organizations in order to promote understanding and goodwill toward the objectives of the
speech and hearing program in the Monroe School District.
